Short Description
The Social Media Research Intern will do mapping and analyzing patterns of Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) social media channels. The intern will investigate how OFWs search for jobs, identify their basic concerns upon arriving in Europe, and uncover the primary reasons driving them to switch or abandon employment. This role focuses heavily on analyzing overall Filipino labor trends within Central Europe, specifically targeting Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Key Responsibilities
• Channel Mapping: Identify, track, and catalog active OFW Facebook groups, TikTok and Viber communities, YouTube channels, and online forums dedicated to Central European migration.
• Trend & Pattern Analysis: Research and document how Filipino workers look for jobs both while in the Philippines and after relocating to Europe.
• Insight Gathering: Analyze social media discussions to pinpoint the primary concerns of newly arrived OFWs and the factors that cause them to switch or abandon jobs.
• Regional Monitoring: Monitor and compile regular updates on shifting labor trends, visa updates, and community sentiments affecting OFWs in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
• Reporting: Assist in synthesizing raw social media data into clear, structured summaries and research reports for the internal team.
Requirements
• Education: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a degree program in International Relations, Sociology, Migration Studies, Communication, Data Analytics, or a related fields.
• Research Skills: Strong capability in qualitative online research, social listening, and data organization.
• Analytical Mindset: Ability to spot behavioral patterns, recurring complaints, and emerging shifts within unstructured social media discussions.
• Communication: Excellent written communication skills for drafting clear, objective research summaries.
